The South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind

The South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind (SCSDB) provides services to educate blind, deaf, and multi-handicapped children. The professional staff at this state-supported school are well trained to deal with many different problems facing our children and adults alike. SCSDB offers programs for pre-school, elementary, middle school, high school, sensory multi-disabled, vocational and postsecondary educational students, as well as a variety of outreach and support services. South Carolina Talking Book Services

Talking Book Services is a division of the South Carolina State Library established to distribute recorded, large print and Braille materials from the National Library Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped of the Library of Congress. TBS staff will assist you in finding an entertaining book, reference materials, periodicals, or any other type of material that the library might have. The library has a variety of computer equipment as well as offers personal equipment on loan that will allow you to read books on tape. They have recently began a descriptive video collection and it is still growing. All of these materials can be received via mail. You can get in touch with them in many ways.
